MECAB (Mid-East Coast Arabian Breeders) members Bennie & Sandra Foy of Eastwood Arabians will be helping accident victim Janice (Jan) Huey. Bennie & Sandra Foy have donated their 2 year old Arabian colt "Big Bad VooDoo Daddy" as the prize in a raffle to help raise funds for the Huey couple . Jan along with her husband Ron are in the trucking industry as are the Foy's. Jan Huey was seriously injured on December 27th while waiting on a load in Cincinnati, Ohio. The couple operate as R & J Trucking, Greensburg, Ind. Christina Newby, one of the Hueys daughters, explains what happened.
Mother went for a walk to get something
to eat and was struck by a car. The impact left her with a broken
femur on the left side and a stroke that affected the right side
of her body and her speech.
Her leg has been operated on, but she still has not regained her
speech or full control of her right side. Since they are Owner
Operators, they have very little medical insurance because of
the high price of premiums for self-employed people. I am asking
if there is anything you can do to help them with financial costs,
such as putting together a fundraiser or a benefit for her.
The Foy's are currently looking for a Non-Profit trucking organization to partner in this project. Amethyst Acres of Buchanan, Va. has donated the training and conditioning. Also Pride of the Fleet horse transport has donated transportation to deliver the colt to the winner. You can contact the Foy's at bfoy@eastwoodarabians.com to learn how to purchase a raffle ticket or donations direct can also be made. We wish Jan all the best and hope for a full recovery.
